Railroad Tie Bookend
Needing some space for parking one of our shop partners decided to dig up the railroad ties that run along the back of our property to make some room for our employees and vendors. Once excavated and removed, the 40 feet of railroad tie was cut into small pieces with a bandsaw, put through an electrolysis process to remove heavy rust, sandblasted and then polished to perfection.
6 inches long, six inches high and five inches wide of Chicago industrial grit and history. We use ours at the shop as a door prop and at home as a book end and either way as a constant reminder that something with a history of practicality and function can also be a very beautiful, strong design piece that makes our personal space uniquely ours.
